The Illuminati is supposedly a "secret" organization, yet, the whole world knows about their existence and their plans for world domination. Here are some potential reasons as to why:
According to some, the Illuminati purposely reveals bits of information about themselves on the internet in order to get people talking about it. As a result, those spreading the news are seemed as nut jobs, and their word is not taken seriously, thus, the idea of the Illuminati being a threat is dismissed.
Analysis:
At first glance, this seems like a rather ingenious idea. It uses reverse psychology, which is a proven method, to explain why the Illuminati are so well known.
Leak information about your secret organization, which exists, and its plans on the internet, and let people spread it. Nobody will believe it, as they will all think it is all a hoax. However, on further analysis, this reasoning proves to be invalid. Firstly, hardly anyone knew of the Illuminati in the first place, so why would the group suddenly spread info about themselves on the internet, increasing their popularity? Secondly, for a secret organization, spreading information on the internet seems rather uncharacteristic. Some may argue the Illuminati did this with an alternate motive in mind. Perhaps the Illuminati may have done this to gain publicity, but again, why would a secret organization need publicity in the first place, especially one with power and wealth? I deem this idea INVALID.
Others believe the Illuminati purposely reveal false information on the internet, in order to detract those who are interested in the group from discovering their true existence. Therefore, everything we know about the Illuminati is not true.
Analysis:
This is entirely possible, but highly unlikely. The reason being so is because why would a powerful, and wealthy group be worried enough to spread false information on the internet, so that people cannot track them. Furthermore, why would the group leak info that increases interest among the conspiracist community? If you didn't want anyone to track you, you would not leak highly controversial "plans to take over the world". Furthermore, there is so much articles, blog, and stories dedicated to explaining the Illuminati plans for world domination. I highly doubt they are all lies leaked by the Illuminati. Therefore, I deem this idea to be INVALID
Former members of the Illuminati leaked info about the group on the internet.
Analysis:
This is a very real possibility. There are countless websites and blogs on the internet dedicated to revealing the true secrets of the Illuminati. In most cases, the author is claiming he/she is a former member of the Illuminati, and that their information is first hand. However, on analysis, why does a powerful and wealthy group such as the Illuminati allow members to come and leave as they please? Furthermore, why are the members allowed to share "top secret" information?
According to anonymousmags.com, a high ranking member of the Illuminati, who has served under them for 47 years, revealed everything about their plans, simply because "it became to much for him too bear". He talks about how Obama is the devil incarnate, and how Denver, Colorado is hiding a secret underground bunker for the world's elite. All of the information, if true, are shocking, and should be highly classified.
It should be noted that the author of the article does not provide any logical explanation, or any proof to back up his claims, as a result, I deem this idea INVALID.
Update: I attempted to email the author of the article as he had stated in his article "if anyone has questions feel free to email me" but he failed to reply.
The media popularized the Illuminati:
According to an unnamed source, the Illuminati is popular today because the media has made it so. Everything we know of the Illuminati, their goals, group composition, and etc., are all byproducts of the internet. According to the source, the Illuminati was never really popular until recently, when Dan Brown's bestselling series "Angels and Demons" was published. In the series, the Illuminati is portrayed as a secret society, with the ultimate goal of ruling the world. When people read this, they began to interpret the Illuminati in different context. Eventually, similar to how broken telephone works, the internet spun the story of the Illuminati out of control, and people with no prior knowledge began to believe. Thus, this is how the Illuminati came to be.
Analysis:
As an avid reader of the Angel and Demon series myself, I can confirm the information provided is true. Moreover, in my personal experience, nobody knew of the Illuminati until this book became popular. From the mid 1900s to the early 2000s the Illuminati was virtually unheard.
I interviewed several of my relatives and friends, ages ranging from 12 to 55. Those who had heard of the Illuminati were all kids who grew up with the internet. The adults on the other hand, never heard of the Illuminati. One Uncle even thought the Illuminati was a name for a specific type of vegetable. This theory explains a lot. I deem it VALID.
In conclusion, although the Illuminati may have a power structure that would allow them to survive throughout the century, the only rational reason to explain their popularity is if they were fabricated. However, there is not enough evidence to make a claim, therefore my project on discovering whether the Illuminati exists or not remains ongoing.
